Former St. Peter Presbyterian Church attendee Dennis Cochran, also known as "Dennis the Poet," has written some new lyrics for the Billy Joel tune, Don't Ask Me Why. He's entitled his new song, Just Bash And Lie, in honor of the defrocking of his former pastors RC Sproul Jr and Laurence Windham.
RC Sproul, Jr. and Laurence Windham are pastors at St. Peter Presbyterian Church in Mendota Virginia and Bristol Virginia.
Like so many other victims of RC Sproul Jr.'s slanders, Dennis Cochran was smeared in a "slanderfest" as "The Boy Who Wouldn't Hoe Corn" in the May/June 2004 edition of the Highland's Study Center publication Every Thought Captive. Dennis was caricatured in a very mocking fashion on the front cover of that Every Thought Captive edition.
Like so many others, Dennis Cochran was "lured" to Bristol, Virginia by RC's teaching. But after a brief time at St. Peter Presbyterian Church, Dennis became of the opinion that RC Sproul Jr. and Laurence Windham were cult leaders, and that St. Peter wasn't a Presbyterian Church, but a cult.
So, hit the print key, then take the wife out on a date to the local karaoke bar, and have some fun! Or if you like you can Karaoke to Just Bash And Lie right at home!
On the Internet such things you’ll find!
People say Saint Pete’s a cheat
All those voices make some change their minds
Nasty sheep they beat will bleat!
Give Sproul your favor
The famous stranger
Just bash and lie
They love family but it’s too bad
If that’s now eight states away
Bring your money and they won’t feel sad
Just drink up. You’ll feel okay
They’ll call the critics
Ungodly cynics
Just bash and lie
If they don’t seem centered on the Lord
If they seem a party crowd
It’s their emptiness. They’re scared and bored
Stillness frightens so they’re loud
No contemplation
Drown out frustration
Just bash and lie
People say The Basement Tapes are mostly make-believe
And R.C. is a huckster and a liar
If he has many victims it’s no accident you see
For he is victimized by dark desires
La la la lots of people see the grand hotel
From a distance it looks great
Come in closer. You say, “What’s that smell?”
It’s the stench of all the hate
Feel free to pander
Support the slander
There’s heaps of trouble
Defend the rubble
Just bash and lie
Just bash and lie
