Former St. Peter Presbyterian Church attendee Dennis Cochran, also known as "Dennis the Poet," has written some new lyrics for the Lifehouse tune, Hanging By A Moment. He's entitled his new song, Searching For A Sucker, in honor of the defrocking of his former pastors RC Sproul Jr and Laurence Windham.

RC Sproul, Jr. and Laurence Windham are pastors at St. Peter Presbyterian Church in Mendota Virginia and Bristol Virginia.

Every Thought Captive Boy Who Wouldn't Hoe CornLike so many other victims of RC Sproul Jr.'s slanders, Dennis Cochran was smeared in a "slanderfest" as "The Boy Who Wouldn't Hoe Corn" in the May/June 2004 edition of the Highland's Study Center publication Every Thought Captive. Dennis was caricatured in a very mocking fashion on the front cover of that Every Thought Captive edition.

Like so many others, Dennis Cochran was "lured" to Bristol, Virginia by RC's teaching. But after a brief time at St. Peter Presbyterian Church, Dennis became of the opinion that RC Sproul Jr. and Laurence Windham were cult leaders, and that St. Peter wasn't a Presbyterian Church, but a cult.

Searching For A Sucker

-Musical Satire-

(sung to the Lifehouse tune Hanging By A Moment)
lyrics by Dennis W. Cochran
January 15 and 16, 2006

Desperately spinning
Running from truth
Closer to Armageddon
Facing the big boot

Denomination doesn’t like our spew
Let it go until they got a clue
We’re looking for a place to which we’ll move
We’re searching for a sucker bunch to fool

Repentance truly lacking
Completely insincere
We rule the congregation
Through their pride and fear

Denomination doesn’t like our spew
Let it go until they got a clue
We’re looking for a place to which we’ll move
We’re searching for a sucker bunch to fool

We’re living off the dupes who send us dough
Supporting what they really do not know
A cesspool people blithely dive into
We’re searching for a sucker bunch to fool

Our kingdom we could lose
Already lost our minds
We’re living like the world
Or are you so blind
That you cannot tell?
Buying what we sell?
Things aren’t going well

Desperately spinning
Running from truth
Closer to Armageddon
Facing the big boot

Denomination doesn’t like our spew
Let it go until they got a clue
We’re looking for a place to which we’ll move
We’re searching for a sucker bunch to fool

We’re living off the dupes who send us dough
Supporting what they really do not know
A cesspool people blithely dive into
We’re searching for a sucker bunch to fool

Just searching for a sucker
Searching for a sucker
Searching for a sucker
Searching for a sucker bunch to fool
