Former St. Peter Presbyterian Church attendee Dennis Cochran, also known as "Dennis the Poet," has written some new lyrics for the Simon and Garfunkel tune, The Sounds Of Silence. He's entitled his new song, The Sounds Of Spinning, in honor of the defrocking of his former pastors RC Sproul Jr and Laurence Windham.

RC Sproul, Jr. and Laurence Windham are pastors at St. Peter Presbyterian Church in Mendota Virginia and Bristol Virginia.

Every Thought Captive Boy Who Wouldn't Hoe CornLike so many other victims of RC Sproul Jr.'s slanders, Dennis Cochran was smeared in a "slanderfest" as "The Boy Who Wouldn't Hoe Corn" in the May/June 2004 edition of the Highland's Study Center publication Every Thought Captive. Dennis was caricatured in a very mocking fashion on the front cover of that Every Thought Captive edition.

Like so many others, Dennis Cochran was "lured" to Bristol, Virginia by RC's teaching. But after a brief time at St. Peter Presbyterian Church, Dennis became of the opinion that RC Sproul Jr. and Laurence Windham were cult leaders, and that St. Peter wasn't a Presbyterian Church, but a cult.

The Sounds Of Spinning

-Musical Satire-

(sung to the tune of The Sounds Of Silence)
lyrics by Dennis W. Cochran
January 19, 2006

Hello, those we once thought friends
False shepherds lie and low you bend
And so you shun us and look sour
So many hypocrites and cowards
So much for the loving family
You claim to be
Amidst the sounds of spinning

Ectopic pregnancy? You die.
At least if truly you're "pro-life."
R.C. cried, "Miscommunication!"
Somehow my skills went on vacation.
Looked again and when I broke it down
I heard the sounds of spinning

One time he spewed then said, "It's wrong."
Egg on the face of female throng
Who said, "It's right" or "You don't get it."
And they and he both looked pathetic
But who cares? His last name still is Sproul
Must be a good soul
So go the sounds of spinning

A Study Center (so it's called)
Not too much studying at all
However little it might offer
It nicely fills St. Peter's coffers
Read this book. Any questions? Glad you came.
Now spread our good name
Even if it takes much spinning.

When it will end God only knows
The spinning like a cancer grows
The truth is plain. They will ignore it
They'll shift the blame. They're famous for it
As they try to slide out the back door
(They've done it before)
Adding to their lore by spinning

How many more will they lure in
To tangle in their web of spin?
Is it so hard to see a villian
In those who call for shunning chidren
All because their parents both were grieved
And wanted to leave?
Truth is truly drowned in spinning
